“Marriage is created by God as lifelong institution
between a man and a woman, rooted in creation, with a significance that shows
in its comparison to Christ’s relationship with the church (Ephesians 5:22-33).”[1] A marriage is legally and socially sanctioned union. It’s usually
between a man and a woman, it is regulated by
laws, rules, customs, beliefs, and attitudes that prescribe the rights and
duties of the partners and accords status to their offspring. The universality
of marriage within different societies and cultures is attributed to the
many basic social and personal functions for which it provides structure,
sexual gratification and between the sexes, economic production and consumption, and satisfaction of
personal needs for affection, status, and companionship.[2] So, Marriage is Man or women legally and socially
sanctioned union there different entities, based on cultural, religious, and
personal factors. Married also gives to sexual relations and morals and
civilization. Merriam-Webster dictionary say about marriage, “the
state of being united as spouses in a consensual and
contractual relationship recognized by law”[3]
Christian marriage:
Marriage is a kind of divine blessing given
by God. It is the kind of relationship that unites men and women from two
different backgrounds. Marriage is a fact that unites a
man and [4]a
woman. The book of Genesis says” And they shall become one flesh.”[5]A Christian marriage is a marriage which has been
instituted and functions according to biblical principles. It is a marriage
between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24, Matthew
19:4,5) . In a Christian marriage there is no room for multiple wives or husbands.
Neither is a ‘marriage’ between two men or women a marriage according to
biblical principles. A Christian marriage is a lifelong covenant between one
man and one woman.[6]
